Get me out of Agua Dulce!

Pacific Crest Trail Thru-Hike: Day 26

The morning started with Vasquez Rocks, then a cafe with good food and bad service in Agua Dulce. I ordered a sweet potato stuffed with barbacoa (!) at Sweet Water Cafe. I recommend the food, but can't say that the wait (nearly an hour to be seated and get food in a half-filled cafe) was worth it. Agua Dulce continued to disappoint, with one of the most confusingly-organized grocery stores I've ever had the displeasure of visiting.

Outside the grocery store, trucks stuffed with hiker trash (nearly 30 humans in a truck bed at a time) made rounds to Hiker Heaven. It was at this moment I decided to get the f outta dodge and skip the infamous trail angels' house. I headed for the hills, and what a set of hills I headed for! Up, up, and up. I felt good, though, passing folks who had spent days or weeks resting at Hiker Heaven only to realize that the trail wasn't going to get any easier.

Once again, I avoided getting vortexed, making it 14 miles out of Agua Dulce to a beautiful camping spot. The place I pitched my tent overlooks mountains plunging into a reservoir. It seems like our trail family is catching and passing another bubble of hikers. We'll see how many new faces we come across when we make it to Casa de Luna tomorrow.
