Shelter Cove into Beautiful Bend

Pacific Crest Trail Thru-Hike: Day 111

Sleepy walk into Shelter Cove. The OST into Shelter cove became more and more beautiful as we followed a meandering creek and sunstreaked pine forests adorned with Old Man’s Beard.

Shelter Cove Resort is really nice, with Christmas lights decorating all the signs and buildings. It doesn’t take much to impress me anymore.

There’s a tent to the left of the main lodge for hikers, and there was a dreadlocked girl under the tent with maps spread all across the table. She was mapping a road walk around the fire closures. It sounds like Vice and Boathouse will join her.

Corey and her dad brought donuts, fruit, coffee, and peanut butter treats to Shelter Cove when they picked us up! Once in Bend we went to the thrift store, to shower, and then to a great food truck lot/taproom with live music called The Lot. Tons of eclipsters littered around town, and what a BEAUTIFUL town it is, water and parks and trendy restaurants, thrift stores and breweries everywhere. The town is the size of Duluth, and once knowing that, it feels very similar. After The Lot we stopped at Bonta gelato—phenomenal! And then went home for a good nights sleep at Corey’s parents house.
