Mile 1198.7 to Mile 1222.6
Pacific Crest Trail Thru-Hike: Day 83
We did good today.
We started a little late on account of being wildly hungover from the day before, but zoomed up the rest of the Buttes with our tiny backpacks and only took two rests today instead of the usual 3 or 4.
Things to Remember
Very excited about Etna, very much looking forward to our resupply plan for the rest of California.
Walked with the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee, which looks a lot like getting stuck behind the 100 kids and 15 adults of the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee. But they were all so polite! They were on a hike to Deer Lake for a fun day out in the summer sun. So fun!
Crossed paths with two groups of Boy Scouts. While we were descending from the Sierra Buttes, they were preparing to hike up. The first group didn’t say hi. The second group was extremely friendly. To have a teenage kid tell you what you’re doing is phenomenal is so out of the teenage boy archetype. It was really cool.
Saw Benny and Chill. They are great. Fucking great. Every time. All the time. It makes my day to see them.
Ordered trail butter, working on ordering Kate’s Bars. So far, my two favorite foods on trail that have changed my trail eating both because they pack a shit ton of calories and taste amazing and have fantastic real food ingredients. So I’ve worked in a bulk discount and am ordering massive amounts to my parents house for future resupplies.
Walked until dark and had a hard time finding a campsite, but here we are. It’s getting hotter and hotter every day, and the hiking gets sweatier and sleepier as the temperature and humidity rises.
